Pool Vinyl Liner
How often do pool liners need to be replaced?
Vinyl pool liners typically last from 10-15 years depending on a range of factors. Variables like water chemistry, sun exposure, frequency of use & regular cleaning can all affect the lifespan of your liner.
What signs can I look for to know it’s time to replace my liner?
– Visible tears or cracks in the liner especially if in corners.
– Wrinkles on the walls or floor may indicate a leak or stretching of the vinyl.
– Extreme fading of the liner pattern.
– Liner constantly falling out of the track or detaching from the bead.
How can replacing my vinyl liner create an entirely new look?
This is a unique opportunity to update your pool to a fresh, new look with rich colors. It’s also a great time to consider new features. Maybe add some custom steps or a tanning ledge (yes, even to a vinyl liner pool), a new color-changing LED light, new resin handrails or ladders in colors rather than that old rusty, metal one, new variable speed pump, or even upgrade your sanitizing system to SALT. Pools Patios & Porches installs liners between April and October in the Maryland area when warm weather provides the best installation. FREE estimates are available and require a measurement.
How can this be an investment in my home and family?
A new look liner with rich colors and upgraded features completely changes the look of your backyard and suddenly makes that old pool look 10x more inviting and exciting to use. Financially, you’ll recoup your investment if you sell your house. Buyers will be more receptive and excited about a great looking pool that’s ready to enjoy and offer you full asking price. Even if you don’t plan on selling, you’ll find your kids and grandchildren will want to spend more time visiting, ready for fun, games and smiles.

Winter Safety Cover
How is a new cover the best investment I can make?
How well you close your pool and protect it over the winter helps to make it cleaner when you open. There is nothing worse than removing your winter cover in spring to find a pea soup, green pool and getting the season off to a bad start. The cleaner a pool opens, the less problems you’ll have all season long. The cost of the cover will easily be recouped in savings on chemicals and the happiness you bring your family with an easy opening. PPP recommends Merlin’s SmartMesh safety cover for in-ground pools.
What signs can I look for to know it’s time to replace my cover?
– Visible tears
– Straps that have separated from the cover
– You can see the water through the cover
– Pool always opens to green water in the spring
– Green flecks floating on surface after opening
What makes a good safety cover?
Safety covers should be of “second generation” materials that prevent sun from getting through, but still allow water to drain into the pool. These covers use more fabric so the weave is tighter. Measuring a pool for a perfect fit is a must as the covers are designed, by CAD drawings, to overhang the deck by 1 foot, and are fit around deck obstacles (waterfalls, ladders, steps, etc.). Covers that are oversized will rub against the concrete surface causing premature wear. When a cover is installed for the winter, all straps should be taught and retensioned. Loose strapping allows more debris to blow under the cover, come undone with heavy snow loads, and could eliminate safety these covers provide to children and/or animals.
What happens to the anchors I already have in my concrete from my old cover?
We custom-measure to fit at least 80% of your existing anchors and can replace damaged ones if needed.
How can I maintain my cover for longest life?
– Keep it clean by brushing leaves and other debris off the cover throughout the winter months.
– Double check tension on straps especially after heavy snow loads.
– If you have tile, you should pump excess water from under the cover in late fall to avoid winter freeze conditions and damaged tile.
– Patch any holes that may occur from flying branches or hungry critters. Mesh patches are available and should be applied top and bottom.
